Intelligent Deterrence

Online Shops and Sales Tax (VAT)

Heard across a street. Highly intelligent. A bike alarm like no other! $210 CAD. Direct from manufacturer: $120 CAD.

With the online shop opening for the M!nder bike alarm, I’ve had the joyous duty to dig into the world of sales tax for e-commerce!

In brief, if a customer in Florida makes a purchase, which taxes, if any, am I to charge he/she/per? And how would I remit the collected taxes to the corresponding government?
And then there is Customs/Duty/tariff, whatever the differences between those are?
And what the shipping carriers’ requirements are with respect to the above.

Most of these I’d dug into, in the past. The sales tax was my concern, this week, because I’d postponed the taxation aspect of WooCommerce (the platform I use to create the shop with) to after I’d figured out the shipping. (Shipping is another can of worms, though a more palatable one! [Pun & puke intended.])
